The Fabulous Local Beaches
Your holiday home is just a 10 minute stroll from what must be one of the loveliest stretches of beach in the Luz, the Playa del Puerco. This is the site of the Torre del Puerco and old tower fortess dating back to the 13th century.
The beach is an expanse of soft white sand, backed with natural sand dunes and beach wild plants.

There is a beach bar at Playa del Puerco from about mid May to end September or so, and you can buy beers, coffee, snacks, soft drinks and ice creams etc. There are also lifeguards in summer time.
You have two routes to the beach – you can either take the pavements, if you have pushchairs etc or if you are coming back late in the evening and need street lighting.
Otherwise you can take a more scenic route via the pine forests that border La Loma. Either way, it’s a pleasant walk.

La Barossa is probably the most ‘touristy’ spot and sometimes has a small children’s fun fair or trampolines etc and there are shops along the promenade selling beach toys etc. There are cafes and bars nearby. This beach is fully lifeguarded and has toilets and showers.
Just a few minutes drive away is Roche beach, a small, rocky bay. This sheltered bay is overlooked by the fantastic restaurant ‘El Timone de Roche’, just off the street ‘Inglaterra’. El Timone's terrace, which is shown here, is a wonderful places to sit with a glass of wine and watch the evening sun set.
Towards Sancti Petri there are some more lovely beaches with rock pools etc where children can explore and catch crabs, a pastime that always keeps them busy. Conil beach is also well worth the 15 minute or so drive. The beach is wide and the sea is shallow for a long way. Conil is a lovely seaside town well frequented for its wonderful seafood restaurants along the beachfront. Once you have enjoyed the seafood you can enjoy the evening craft and jewellery market in the cobbled square in front of the church. Conveniently, this square is lined with bars so you can stop off for a welcome drink or icecream.
There’s other fantastic beaches at old Sancti Petri , where you can participate in various watersports under the instruction of Novojet, and El Palmar... and endless others – with something like 14 km of beaches stretching around the coast from the Torre del Puerco so you will find something to suit you, rocky coves, secluded bays, nudist beaches.
